Championing Net Zero for West Yorkshire businesses

Oxford Innovation Advice is pleased to share that Jas Hayre, Client Manager on the West Yorkshire Good Growth Programme, has been accepted as an associate for the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission. This milestone reflects the organisation’s growing commitment to helping SMEs navigate the transition to a low-carbon future.

Over the past year, Oxford Innovation Advice has worked hard to embed sustainability across its business. More than 90% of employees have now completed Carbon Literacy training, creating a shared understanding of environmental impact and the role staff can play in reducing it. The organisation has also introduced a dedicated Low Carbon Champions group, bringing colleagues together from across the business to support sustainable internal practices and shape future initiatives. Alongside this, Oxford Innovation Advice is working towards achieving Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO) Silver accreditation, in recognition of its ongoing leadership and commitment to sustainability.

Jas’ new Associate role will build on this momentum. As part of the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission, he will contribute to the region’s Net Zero initiatives, raise awareness of the organisation’s carbon reduction work, and represent the sustainability support needs of SMEs across the region. His involvement ensures that diverse business communities are heard within the regional climate agenda.

Jas said:

“My role as an Associate at the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission will enable me to share the sustainability and Net Zero concerns of SMEs in our region with the Commission. In addition, I will be well placed to share initiatives developed by the Commission back to businesses across Yorkshire. This role fits effectively with my current business support work for Oxford Innovation Advice as part of the West Yorkshire Good Growth Programme, funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.”

For many SMEs, sustainability is not only an environmental responsibility but a practical route to improved resilience, efficiency and long-term growth. Oxford Innovation Advice’s continued investment in carbon literacy and regional leadership highlights its commitment to supporting businesses through this transition.
