YABCA

Our Approach

At YABCA, our approach centers on the empowerment of young individuals and communities. We focus on instilling confidence, cultivating leadership qualities, and nurturing essential skills among today’s youth. Our mission is to equip young people with the tools and resources they need to effect positive transformations within their communities. We believe in harnessing the potential of every individual, fostering a sense of responsibility and agency to drive meaningful change. By fostering a culture of empowerment and collaboration, we aim to create a ripple effect, inspiring young leaders to initiate sustainable solutions to local and global challenges. At YABCA, we recognize that the power to enact change lies within each young person, and we are committed to providing them with the support and opportunities necessary to realize their full potential as catalysts for a better tomorrow.

Our Values

At YABCA, our operations are firmly anchored in our core values. Integrity, respect, and collaboration serve as the compass guiding every decision and action we take. Embracing diversity and inclusivity, we endeavor to establish an environment that is both safe and nurturing for all young individuals. Our commitment to these principles fuels our efforts to foster a culture of mutual understanding and cooperation. By upholding these values, we ensure that every young person feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute meaningfully to their communities. At YABCA, we believe that cultivating an atmosphere built on trust and respect is essential for unleashing the full potential of every individual, fostering collective growth, and driving positive change.

Impact

At YABCA, our success is gauged by the tangible impact we make on the lives of young people and the communities we engage with. Through a range of carefully crafted programs and initiatives, our goal is clear: to empower youth to step into roles as leaders, changemakers, and champions for social justice. We strive to equip them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to not only navigate their own paths successfully but also to effect positive change within their communities. By measuring our achievements through the transformative experiences and outcomes of the individuals we serve. We ensure that our efforts are directed towards creating lasting, meaningful impacts that extend far beyond the scope of our programs. At YABCA, our commitment lies in inspiring and empowering the next generation to shape a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

Inspired by YABA Founder Sharon Jandu OBE’s experience as a magistrate and the work that YABA does with disadvantaged people, the Yorkshire Asian Business Community Action group was created to serve the community. Working closely with mental health and other industry experts, YABCA creates, runs and evaluates programmes that help local communities with a range of issues from employability in single mothers to confidence in children. YABCA also works with YABA corporate members for charity projects, which you can read more about below. We are also the proud sponsors of the Carlton Bolling Academy boys rugby team which you can see above.

UKYouth Projects

We have worked with UK Youth on various projects and programmes over the past few years. Most recently we have run the EmpowHER and FutureProof programmes in Carlton Bolling Academy in Bradford.

The EmpowHER project was designed by UKYouth to empower young women and girls to speak up and create a change in their community, and the girls we have worked with have gone from strength to strength. They designed, created and ran two social action projects to raise money for a local homeless charity that they picked themselves. They also reached out to local businesses for support with these projects.

The FutureProof project was designed to cover a range of topics, such as confidence, identity, voice and leadership, to help these young people realise the impact they can have, not only within their schools, but on the wider community as well. The students who have taken part in these projects have shown an increase in not only confidence but also conflict resolvement both in and out of school.

Carlton Bolling Academy

‘We have been able to run the Power of Women – Inspirational Journey project that was funded by the European Social Fund, in which we helped mothers of students at the school gain confidence and employment skills, in order for them to be able to feel more empowered to seek and apply for employment.’

‘We also attended the school’s Culture Day where it was great to see the school come together to celebrate each other’s differences with stalls about many different places and cultures, from Hungary to South Korea, Afghanistan to Canada, whilst focusing on what unites us and celebrating Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.’

Northern Partnership

We have been able to work with Corporate Partner Northern on several projects, alongside 50 Things to do Bradford, we were able to take refugee families to the seaside for a free trip and to help them gain confidence in the rail service as a way of getting around. It was a great day and some of the families have even been on day trips together since. We also hosted a Jubilee party for local primary students on a train in Leeds Station, where they were able to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and learn more about rail safety. Our work with Northern and 50 things to do also led to us being shortlisted for the Community Rail awards 2022.
