A big part of being from a Sikh Indian family is the tradition of giving, sharing, and feeding others. Cooking for the people she loved was always my mum’s passion. What started as a hobby was something she had always hoped to grow into a small business one day. Sadly, when she became unwell, she was no longer able to build the little food venture she had dreamed of.
Kamal’s Kitchen is named in her honour. Her love for cooking and feeding people became the inspiration for everything I do. Alongside the busy life of teaching, being a mum, and managing the everyday chaos of life, I decided to take the plunge last year and bring this vision to life. My first pop-up in Wetherby was exciting and overwhelming, but the genuine feedback and warmth from the community showed me that this was something I truly loved doing. With the support of my amazing family and friends, the first event went well, and many people have since said, “We never knew you were doing this!” I wanted to quietly test the waters first, and I’m so glad I did — because it confirmed that this was the right path for me.
Fast forward a year, and we are now catering for prestigious events, including corporate networking functions, private parties, community events, and pop-ups, while continuing to run intimate gatherings with the same passion and attention to detail. Each event is an opportunity to create memorable experiences, where food brings people together in a way that’s meaningful and enjoyable.
At Kamal’s Kitchen, our food is inspired by traditional Indian home cooking, staying true to the authentic flavours my mum was known for, while adding a modern twist that makes each dish exciting, fresh, and memorable. We maintain our traditional roots, honouring family recipes and Sikh values, while creating bold, unique combinations that guests may not have tried before. This fusion of tradition and innovation is what sets Kamal’s Kitchen apart.
Some of our most popular dishes include Chicken Chaat and Paneer Chaat, which have become talking points at events. Each dish is crafted with care, creativity, and love, ensuring that every guest has an experience they will remember. Beyond the food itself, the personal touch we bring to catering — understanding each client’s needs, adjusting menus, and offering flexible service — ensures every event runs smoothly and successfully.
